Rome's Giardino degli Aranci to be restored
Private funds for the Aventino's Giardino degli Aranci.
Rome's Giardino degli Aranci on the Aventine hill is to benefit from maintenance and restoration works funded by a private foundation, the Sorgente Group, in collaboration with city authorities.
The work will include rubbish removal and routine park maintenance as well as the restoration of the gate to the adjoining Clivo di Rocca Savello, a walkway linking the park with the Lungotevere below.
Originally an enclosed monastic orchard, the Giardino degli Aranci is one of Rome's most romantic destinations, providing stunning views of the city across the river Tiber.
This is another initiative of private-city co-operation to restore Rome monuments. These include Tod's for the Colosseum, Fendi for Rome's fountains, Bulgari for the Spanish Steps and the Japanese entrepreneur, Yuzo Yagi who financed the restoration of the Piramide Cestia in Ostiense.
