29 Rome buses have burst into flames in 2019.
Three more Rome buses have caught fire in the last three days, two belonging to the city's public transport company ATAC and the other belonging to Roma TPL, the capital's suburban bus company.
There were no casualties in the three separate incidents which occurred in the suburbs of Nuova Ponte di Nona, Tor Vergata and Mostacciano between 6 and 9 December.
The phenomenon of Rome's buses bursting into flames while in service - known by Romans as "flambus" - is nothing new, with the number at 29 so far this year.
However ATAC has reassured commuters that - as far as its fleet is concerned - the total number of buses going up in flames this year is "approximately 60 per cent lower than the number recorded last year."
