The annual Barcelona Guitar Festival takes place every spring and sees some of the top performers and master musicians in Spain and the world come together in an explosion of musical expression and skill. For four months between mid-March and mid-June various venues throughout the city play host to leading guitarists in a wide variety of styles and formations playing live in concert. The festivals reputation has grown in recent years and has been enhanced by outstanding performances from such maestros as guitar legend John Williams, flamenco star Estrella Morente performing with guitarists Manuel Parrilla and Montoyita, and rocker Pat Travers, not to mention jazz guitarist Luis Salinas and his group from Argentina in 2004. Just some of the names scheduled to appear in 2005 include Steve Hackett, Robin Trower, Diego El Cigala and Jan Akkerman.
