For two months visitors can marvel at the a new exhibition at the Sala de Exposiciones de la Fundacin Cultural MAPFRE Vida dedicated to Valencian painter Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench
(1849-1916), one of the most original and creative artists of the art world at the end of the 1900s and a pioneer of the Valencian modern painting school. Curated by Javier Red Perez, a professor of Art History at the University of Valencia, the collection brings together over one hundred works, from canvases to sketches, showing the sweep of subject matter considered by Pinazo and emphasizing the modernity of his painting. The show includes some items which have never before seen the light of day. The exhibition is an important recognition of Piazos place in the Spanish pantheon of painters and one who did much to shape Spanish modern painting of the 20th century.
