"Sobre Horacios y Curiacios".
3 March- 3 April 2005. Madrids Abbey Theatre (El Teatro de la Abada) is celebrating the tenth anniversary of "Sobre Horacios y Curiacios", restaging this special Spanish comedy drama in all its glory. The show is accompanied by the publication of a book and an exhibition on the plays origins and history. Directed by Hernn Gen and back from a successful tour of Spain, this exceptional comment on war, humour, society and Spain is back at the Abbey where it first started. An important part of modern Spanish theatre On Horacios and Curiacios is a dynamic, interactive and funny interplay of the writings of Bertolt Brech and the masterful clown technique of Argentine Hernn Gen. A reflection of the impotence of the common man in the face of the horrors of the war, the actors featured in the play are all clowns validating the principle of diversion in theatre that Brecht defended. The six main characters, disoriented and in search of a way to stop the war, reflect us, the audience and force us to ask ourselves about our place in the world, and the true value of life. Tickets cost 19.
