Sunday Bullfights at Las Ventas
13 Mar-16 Oct 2005.
It may or may not be your thing but it is certainly something many Spaniards and visitors to the country enjoy from spring to summer each year. From mid-March to mid-October Madrids main bullring, La Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, is the place to go and observe, enjoy or loathe the Spanish passion for bullfighting in the countrys capital city. Bullfights take place every Sunday without fail and more frequently during special feasts on the annual calendar such as San Isidoro in May and June. Las Ventas, as it is known by local, was constructed in 1929 and is something of an attraction itself. Holding some 25,000 spectators, it is the largest bullring in the world and is considered the most challenging arena for matadors. It also contains a museum about the stadium and the Spanish tradition of bullfighting. Bullfights take place from 10.00 to 14.00 and from 17.00 to 20.00 every Sunday. Tickets cost between 1.80 and 180 depending on distance form the ring and the amount of shade available.
