Cassia area
Old Roman consular road to the north-west, unfortunaly the Via Cassia has very little of the ancient glories of the Appia Antica. Everything in this area is centred along the traffic-blocked Via Cassia. It is crowded with shops and supermarkets and residential compounds set back from the narrow road. The compunds usually have tennis courts, swimming pools and communal gardens. Although secluded the compounds also have a certain feeling of isolation from the surrounding city. Far from the historic centre, a car is essential for anyone living here. It is often a popular area for foreigners with children because many of the international schools are along the Via Cassia. Public transport is bad and the traffic is impossible in rush hours.
