10th homeless man dies due to cold in Rome
Man is believed to be tenth homeless person to die from hypothermia in city this winter.
A man who was found dead in Rome's Flaminio district on 23 January is believed to be the 10th homeless person to die from the cold in the capital this winter.
The lifeless body of the 50-year-old man, reportedly from eastern Europe, was found on a bench in Piazza Mancini by a passerby.
Nine other homeless men have perished in the cold since late October - six Italians and one each from Romania, Tunisia and Poland - according to Italian news agency ANSA.
The spate of deaths has led Rome-based charities to call on the city for greater action in helping the homeless, particularly during extremely cold weather.
