A good crop.
In the next few weeks olive oil presses all over Italy will be working day and night to process what the Confederazione Italiana Agricoltori (CIA) says will be a very high-quality crop. The CIA also believes that the olives picked this year should satisfy almost all of the demand for virgin and extra virgin olive oil. Even in a year of high production, the supply is not usually enough, so foreign-grown produce is bought in. However as from this season producers are legally required to state the source of the olives they use.
The CIA has reminded consumers that they should always check the label on the bottles to ensure that the content is 100 per cent Italian.
