Rome's municipal museums and cultural spaces open their doors for the fourth edition of "Musei in Musica" on Saturday 1 December from 20.00 until 02.00.
More than 80 concerts and musical events take place free of charge at 38 venues across Rome. The idea behind the initiative is to bring an added cultural dimension to the museums’ permanent collections and spaces through a combination of music and art.
Among the highlights are an acoustic set by Luca Barbarossa at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni; a concert at the Ara Pacis Museum in homage to Fabrizio De André featuring ten of Rome's best musicians; and the Casa dell’Architettura presents the music of Britain's Pink Floyd in "Atom in Rome" – a preview of the three-hour show being staged at the Auditorium Conciliazione in January.
The capital's foreign cultural institutes are also involved: there is a piano concert by Antonio Ortiz at the Royal Spanish Academy; the OGMM Orchestra perform at the Belgian Academy; and there is a cello performance at the Casa di Goethe.
Other art institutions taking part include the MAXXI, Capitoline Museums, Trajan's Markets, Chiostro del Bramante and Centrale Montemartini.
