African Cup celebrations
A part of the Esquiline will be transformed into a celebration of Africa and football from Sat 24 Jan-Sun 15 Feb. Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II will be full of African music, food and singing as the "Continente Nero" festival is staged to coincide with the African Cup football tournament being played by 16 teams in Tunisia this year. Matches will be broadcast on a large screen in the square. Organisers from Tam Tam Village, an association that promotes cultural events for immigrant communities in Rome, said the festival aims to enable Africans in Rome to meet through a common cultural event.
