Annual commemoration at Rome War Cemetery

Australians and New Zealanders in Rome will mark ANZAC Day 2013 with a memorial service on Friday 25 April at the Rome War Cemetery on Via Nicola Zabaglia, in the Piramide district, at 09.00.

Originally held to commemorate members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey in world war one, ANZAC Day is now an occasion for the two countries to pay tribute to all members of their armed forces who died in both world wars and in action since.

An informal reception will follow the service at the Australian ambassador's residence at Via di S. Angelo in Pescheria 34b. All are welcome but for security reasons an RSVP is mandatory for those wishing to attend: contact info-rome@dfat.gov.au or tel. 06852721.
