Applications to hire non-EU workers
Applications to hire non-EU workers can be made following the announcement of the 2004 quota for the number of non-EU immigrants who will be allowed to work in Italy: a total of 50,000 seasonal workers plus 29,500 places for permanent jobs and the self-employed. The government decree states that in Lazio 1,820 non-EU immigrants can be employed this year and 300 can be hired as seasonal workers. In Rome applications will be processed at the Direzione Provinciale del Lavoro di Roma in Via dei Vestini 13 in S. Lorenzo. Employers need to make an appointment at the office and must take their own passport and a photocopy, and a photocopy of their potential employee's passport. They will be given the relevant paperwork to fill out and another appointment will be made for the completion of the process. Applications will be considered until Lazio's 2004 quota of non-EU workers has been filled. The national 2003 quota for non-EU employees was 60,000 seasonal workers and 19,500 non-seasonal workers.
