Ex Dogana in S. Lorenzo hosts artistic protest against impending closure.
A group of artists has come together to hold a month of weekend exhibitions in support of Rome's Ex Dogana venue which faces closure after acting as a cultural hub in the city since 2015.
Entitled Monotono, the initiative has been organised by Studio Volante with exhibitions taking place over four weekends from 12 January until 1 February in the industrial spaces of Via dello Scalo di S. Lorenzo.
Described as an "artistic invasion", the initiative will see the collaboration of artists who have had the opportunity to use the Ex Dogana to create or exhibit art over the last three and a half years.
The artists include well-known names such as Andreco, Borondo, Sbagliato and Tellas. For full details see Studio Volante Facebook page.
In December the Ex Dogana organisers announced the uncertain future of the venue which faces being demolished to make way for a luxury student hostel.
