Bad weather causes traffic problems in Rome
Overnight flooding caused by heavy rain in the early hours of Monday 19 September has led to much disruption to traffic in the capital. The Metro A stations at S. Giovanni, Ponte Lungo, Colli Albani, Porta Furba, Numidio Quadrato and Lucio Sesto have been closed and an extra bus route is in operation between the Giulio Agricola and Travertino stations.
Technical teams are in the process of dealing with an unsteady electricity pole between the Via Appia and Via Tuscolana junctions on the Grande Raccordo Anuale, which is at present only passable in the emergency lane.
Via Prenestina is flooded at the Via Palmiro Togliatti intersection while on Via Tuscolana there is major congestion, with the underpass at the Casilina junction closed. Via Torricola in the Ciampino district of the city has been closed due to a fallen tree.
Due to malfunctioning signal lights the Termini-Giardinetti light rail line between Ponte Casilino and Stazione Termini was suspended during the night but was back in service from 06.40 today.
