Ban Ki Moon praises Italy
UN secretary general thanks Italy for saving immigrants.
Ban Ki-Moon spoke in Italian when he thanked a joint session of parliament for Italy's help to migrants, defining it as “humane and courageous.”
He acknowledged the role of Italian men and women in saving tens of thousands of lives in the Mediterranean during the worst immigration crisis in modern history.
Ban Ki-Moon was in Rome to mark the 60th anniversary of Italy's membership of the UN.
