Blessing of the animals.
Every year the parish priest of the church of S. Eusebio al Esquilino celebrates a special mass for the feast day of St Antony Abbot, which falls on 17 January. This year the mass will be held on Sunday 15 January at 10.00 and Rome residents are invited to attend the mass with their animals, which traditionally receive a blessing during the service. As well as domestic pets, horses belonging to the security services and police dogs are usually present.
