With temperatures predicted to soar as high as 44 degrees the weekend of 14 July, those cooling off in the sea at Ostia’s free beaches will be under the watchful eye of a team of rescue dogs. Known as the "bau-watchers", the six specially-trained dogs will assist Ostia's lifeguards every weekend over the summer, and are back on patrol after helping 21 bathers in difficulty last year. The popular team comprises three Golden Retrievers: Eva, Sunny and Maggie; one Bouvier called Greta, and two Labradors called Rudy and Tom.
