Campaign to keep Six Nations in Rome
A committee called Roma Capitale del Rugby has been established to keep Rome as the seat of the Six Nations rugby tournament. Recent media reports have suggested that Italy's home Six Nations matches look set to be played in Florence, something to which the newly-formed group is strongly opposed.
The committee issued the following statement; "We are rugby fans, Roman citizens from every section of society, and we will fight to keep the Stadio Flaminio as the Italian headquarters for the Six Nations tournament. The festive atmosphere displayed by supporters from all teams during the days of the tournament is thanks in particular to the wonderful setting offered by the capital. "
