Car-free Sundays
Private traffic, including mopeds, will be banned from circulating in Rome on Sunday 21 March. The no-go area, which is in operation 10.00-17.00, will encompass most of the historic centre including Esquilino and Trastevere, as well as other areas as decided by each municipio. It is the first of this years ecological Sundays, held to encourage Romans to enjoy their city on foot and bicycle. The event will be repeated on Sundays 18 April, 16 May and 7 November, and on Wednesday 22 September, which is a Europe-wide car-free day. For details tel. 060606 or ask a traffic warden.
