The city council has introduced a new service allowing Rome residents to obtain certificates via email through its website. In all 16 certificates are available on-line including residency, marriage, birth, citizenship and civil status; the only certificate that cannot be obtained via the new system is the certificate of existence (certificato di esistenza in vita). Certificates can be requested with or without a revenue stamp (marca da bollo) and the relative fee is paid by credit card. The document is then sent by email in .pdf format for printing.
