Cinema capital.
A report on Romes economy has revealed that the city is the capital of audio-visual production in Italy. In 2004 there were 1,486 production companies in Rome and they made 101 films, 69 short films, 193 advertisements and 113 documentary films. Filming took place in varied street locations all over the city for a total of 15,501 days. It is not only in production terms that Rome holds the cinema record: the Romans go to see many more films than other Italians, 4.5 times a year against a national average of 1.8 times, and they spend 28 a year on cinema tickets as opposed to the national average of 10.6.
