The Keats-Shelley Memorial House is in the process of selecting a new curator to replace Catherine Payling, who left Rome at the end of July on her marriage in June to Duncan Wu, one of the foremost scholars of the Romantic period and professor of English literature at Georgetown University, Washington DC.
In her 14 years as curator Payling managed to transform the museum at the foot of the Spanish Steps from an interesting collection of memorabilia, documents and books about the Romantic poets into a top-class museum in line with the highest modern standards.
She modernised the building, which was in serious need of repair, increased the number of visitors each year, instigated new outreach programmes to Rome
