Council hub at the Ostiense.
The city administration is planning to move a large part of it offices to the area around the Ostiense, either into remodernised buildings or into new ones. About 37 different departments will eventually move to the area around the Ostiense, involving about 4500 city employees now working in offices dotted around the city. The council workers will be provided with parking space, restaurant facilities and a nursery school. When the hub at the Ostiense is finished there will be savings of about 20 million a year in rents. The first part of the move is due to take place by the end on 2007 and it is expected to free up space in the Campidoglio to be used as museum and exhibition space rather than offices.
