Dangerous driving.
According to figures on road accidents released by Urban Audit, which collects information on the living conditions in189 cities in the 15 European Union countries, Rome is the most dangerous of the 15 capital cities examined. Figures for 2001 show that in Rome, 8.37 per 1000 population were involved in road accidents compared with the overall figure for Italy of 4.07 per 1000. In London the figure was .85 per 1000, compared with the national figure at 5.45 per 1000. In Berlin the figure for the city was 0.59 per thousand compared with a national score of 4.56 per 1000. In Paris the figure was 0,40 per thousand compared with 2.89 per 1000 for the whole country.
Urban Audit will now be adding statistics from 69 other cities in the 12 new countries to its data base.
