Earth Day in Rome
Rome highlights the environment with Earth Day.
Rome is marking the international Earth Day initiative with four days of events at the Galoppatoio area in Villa Borghese on the theme of the environment and sustainability from 22-25 April.
Beginning with an opening concert by Italian rapper Rocco Hunt, the programme features exhibitions, workshops, dj sets, sports and children's activities, ending with a live broadcast by Italian radio programme Catepillar.
Earth Day was founded by US senator Gaylord Nelson in 1970 and is celebrated in 175 countries worldwide on 22 April each year. The event is designed to raise awareness about the natural environment and how to conserve it.
