A strong earthquake has hit central Italy 16 February at 20.00 local time. The epicenter was identified in the Lazio region, between Rome and Naples, in the Sora area and the reported magnitude was 4,8 on the Richter scale.
In the capital the quake was strong.
The fire services and the civil defence centres have received numerous calls from worried residents. At the moment, however, no serious damage to people and things has been reported.
