EDITORIAL: From Rome to L'Aquila
For anyone who has experienced previous earthquakes in Italy, (Friuli 1976, Irpinia 1980, Umbria 1997 just to mention the most serious in the last half century), there was something different about the one that struck Abruzzo on 6 April.
The first reason was that Rome shook hard early that morning. To anyone who woke, and most people did, the quake was so strong that it felt as though the city had been hit and it sent people out into the streets in fear. Who remembered in those early hours that Rome is not officially on Italy
