Rome is one of 53 Italian cities participating in European Mobility Week, the annual campaign on sustainable urban mobility, organised by the European Commission.
The initiative, which is titled “In town without my car” runs from 16 to 22 September, is to encourage European local authorities to introduce and promote sustainable non-polluting transport measures. Each participating city is committed to improving its infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians. In Rome the activities are as follows:
17 Sept: Bicycle promotion around city centre.
18 Sept: Course in bicycle maintenance on Via Alghero 4 at 19.30.
19 Sept: Lesson in health and nutrition for cyclists by a medic on Via Voghera 6, Ass. Lazzaroni at 19.00.
20 Sept: Bicycle taxis in Piazza del Popolo at 16.00.
21 Sept: Cycling by night around the historic centre, meeting in Piazza del Popolo at 19.00.
22 Sept: Bimbinbici, for children, meeting with “Circolando”, at Parco di Centocelle (via Casilina 711) at 10.00. Cycle from S. Giovanni al Mandrione, in Piazza S. Giovanni (under the statue of S. Francesco) at 17.00.
23 Sept: Cycle in the Tenuta del Cavaliere, meeting at Metro Rebibbia at 09.30.
