Fallen tree closes Rome's Viale Mazzini.
Two people have been injured seriously after a large pine tree fell across Viale Mazzini in the Prati district of Rome on the morning of 25 February.
The tree knocked over a lampost and landed on two cars, hitting a passerby and a passenger in one of the cars. Both men are in hospital in a serious condition, according to daily Italian newspaper La Repubblica.
The entire area has been sealed off and other dangerous trees have been identified.
The incident occurred two days after strong winds battered the city, leading to falling trees and the closure of the capital's parks and cemeteries. See related feature article.
