General Strike
Italian trades unions have confirmed a general strike for Friday 26 March in protest against proposed pension and education reforms and the increase in the cost of living. It will involve public employees at regional and local level, workers in schools, universities, post offices, banks, railways, ferries, local public transport, motorways and in the health sector all of whom are expected to strike for a minimum of four hours and for eight hours in Lazio and Sicily.
