Crater almost swallows car in Rome suburb
A giant pothole opened up in a carpark in an east Rome suburb on the afternoon of 8 February, leaving a parked car suspended over the chasm for a number of hours.
There was nobody injured in the incident which took place outside a supermarket on Via Fontechiari in the Centocelle district of the city.
The car was later removed by authorities. In the same area a year ago, a similar crater appeared in the compound of a school, resulting in its closure for several days.
Rome is no stranger to giant potholes, see related article.
