Guided tour of Mount Soratte bunkers near Rome
The cultural association Bunker Soratte based on Mount Soratte north of Rome is organising guided tours of the former military bunkers under the mountain on 22 and 23 May. The site is not normally open to the public.
The tours start in S. Oreste on the mountainside and take in the network of underground galleries and anti-aircraft bunkers built by Mussolini in the late 1930s in anticipation of war and which went on to become the headquarters of the German occupying forces commanded by General Albert Kesselring from September 1943 to June 1944, as well as nuclear bunkers created for the Italian government during the Cold War.
Visits are on 22 May from 15.00-17.30 and on 23 May from 10.00-12.30 and from 15.00-17.30, departing from the entrance to the
