Italian youth and work safety.
Young people between the ages of 18-25 years have a 50 per cent more chance of suffering non-lethal injuries on the job than other age groups, the Italian bureau of statistics has revealed.
The sectors most at risk in the Lazio area are: construction, agriculture and transport Istat found.
As a region we have invested 14 million over the last three years for the scholastic training of workers and for those responsible for on site safety, says the president of the regional committee for safety in the Lazio area Fabio Armeni. Prevention is however an ethical issue that involves every actor in the productive cycle.
A three-day conference, organised by the Italian Workers Union for Rome and the Lazio region and Fondazione Cesar (research institute on insurance and social issues), is currently being held in Rome in occasion of the European campaign on health and security for youth in the workplace. Some 200 local schools are participating in the initiative and are contributing their suggestions on these issues.
