Italy's rugby team trains at Amatrice

Azzurri train for Rome Six Nations game against Ireland in earthquake-hit Amatrice.

The Italian rugby team will train with Italy's Under-20 rugby squad in Amatrice, in a gesture of solidarity with the north Lazio region devastated by an earthquake in August 2016.

The joint training session, which will be open to the public, will take place at the Paride Tilesi stadium on Monday 18 February at 15.00.

The show of solidarity comes ahead of the U-20 match against Ireland on 22 February, with the senior national team meeting Ireland in the Six Nations championship on 24 February at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Italian captain Sergio Parisse, whose family is from L'Aquila - the Abruzzo city hit by a major earthquake almost a decade ago - said: "I know well what it means to experience the reality of an earthquake, and it is our duty to be consistent with the values of our sport and commit ourselves to support those affected by such a great tragedy."
