Sales begin two days earlier than previously announced
The post-Christmas sales season is underway in Rome and throughout Lazio, running until 16 February. The sales commenced in Rome on 3 January, slightly earlier than the originally-scheduled date of 5 January.
The prices on items for sale must be indicated clearly, with the original as well as the sales’ price. Discounts are only allowed on stock already in the shop before the sales, not on items bought in at a discount.
Most city centre shops will be open on Tuesday 6 January, the feast of the Epiphany (or La Befana as it is known in Rome), including the large shopping malls in the outskirts of the city.
Due to their better parking facilities, these out-of-town shopping centres have taken trade from the centre-city shops in recent years, however the city reminds shoppers that they can avail of the RomeFreePass shuttle buses until 10 January.
