Lazio breathes again.
Lazio, Romes "other" football team, has been on the verge of bankruptcy for over a year. Players have not seen their salaries for months and taxes have not been paid. The current owner of Lazio, Claudio Lotito, has now proposed that the club should pay its 140 million of back taxes over a period of 23 years. The ministry of finance has finally given the thumbs up to the idea, especially as the alternative, bankruptcy, would have meant that no taxes would be received at all. So, the arrangement suits just about everyone.
Lazio football club has been in existence since 1900 and has known a few moments of glory, most recently in the year 2000 when the club won the league championship, the "scudetto".
