Manzoni metro station closes.
Manzoni metro station on Linea A will close for 11 months from 30 January for major restructuring work. The station, in the S.Giovanni area of the city, will be fitted with new escalators and an improved air ventilation system as well as having all electrical and safety equipment replaced in a 16.5 million overhaul. The closure of the station will speed up the work, which would otherwise have taken 31 months to complete. Aeration shafts between Manzoni and S. Giovanni stations will also be strengthened from Via Emanuele Filiberto as part of the revamp, which will result in some traffic diversions.
Passengers for Manzoni should instead use Vittorio Emanuele or S. Giovanni stations, which they can reach on bus routes 360, 590, 810 and on buses substituting for tram line 3 in the direction of S. Giovanni.
