May Day.
With the 1 May national holiday falling on a Thursday this year many Italians will take Friday off in order to have an extra long weekend. An estimated 12 million cars will take to the roads and traffic delays should be expected, especially on the motorways and on the main thoroughfares leading in and out of Rome.
The day will be celebrated in Rome with the usual concert in Piazza S. Giovanni. This year
