Microcars to pay for ZTL entry.
Drivers of so-called microcars will have to pay to drive in the limited traffic zone (ZTL) areas of the city from 1 July. The tiny cars, which are popular with under-18s since they do not require a licence to drive, currently have the same freedom as scooters to roam the city. But the new rule will mean residents and workers in the historic centre, Trastevere and S. Lorenzo who own a microcar will need to have a street parking permit for their vehicle. Microcars without a permit will only be able to enter the areas outside ZTL hours.
Microcar drivers will also no longer be able to park wherever they can fit
