Money for low-cost housing.
Lazios regional government has released funds to the Rome city council to improve housing and living conditions in some of the most under-privileged areas of the city. The money will be spent on providing economical housing for 29,000 people, offices, parks and gardens, and for the necessary infrastructure.
The city council plans to add 96 million to the 86 million promised by the regional government, and further funds are expected from the construction companies involved in the work.
Three projects are under way already; at Acilia- Dragonara, Palmarola and Valle Aurelia, and a further seven projects await approval, at Fidene, Val Melaina, S. Basilio, Tor Bella Monaca, Corviale, Magliana, Primavalle-Torrevecchia and Labaro.
The new construction projects will employ 6,300 workers over the next six years.
