Trenitalia has confirmed a nationwide train strike on Friday 12 April from 09.00-17.00.
The eight-hour strike takes place across Italy, with the exception of Tuscany, and applies to staff working on trains as well as in ticket offices.
The action has been called by trade unions FILT CGIL, CISL Fit, Uiltrasporti, UGL Transport, and Fast FerroVie.
The unions say they are striking in protest over the restructuring of their working conditions and the "dismantling of the cargo division."
The news comes just one month after commuters in the Lazio region faced a similar train strike on 8 March.
