Neighbours.
Following the example of France, Switzerland and Belgium, Rome city council has set aside Saturday 7 May as its first "Neighbours Day". Condominiums all over the city are being invited to organise festive gatherings either in their own communal space, in the street or in a nearby park. Mariella Gramaglia, councillor for burocracy, who is responsible for the idea, says that people living in large apartment blocks often dont know each other and this special day would be an opportunity to meet. The city council has started a website with advice and suggestions. The national association of condominium administrators will follow events with interest. The president of the association says that the city council has always ignored the problems of the condominiums, no one is ever willing to offer space for a meeting and getting flat owners to agree on anything is notoriously difficult.
