New bicycle times on Rome's metro?
After years of lobbying from Rome's cycling associations the city's newly-appointed mobility commissioner Antonello Aurigemma is discussing additional times for the transportation of bicycles on Rome's metro system. At the moment bicycles may be taken on the A and B metro lines and the Roma-Lido train only after 21.00 on weekdays and all day on Sundays and public holidays.
The results of a report conducted by various cycling and environmental groups identify three possible times outside rush hour to take bicycles on both metro lines and the Roma-Lido line: from the beginning of the service until 07.00, from 10.00 until 16.00 and from 20.00 until end of service. The city has also been asked to extend the hours for bicycles to Saturday.
