New bridge for the Tiber.
There is to be a new bridge across the Tiber known as the Ponte della Musica or music bridge in the Flaminio area of Rome between Piazza Gentile da Fabriano and the Lungotevere Cadorna.
The design for the bridge is by British architectural firm Bureau Happold Engineers, which won the competition for the project launched in 2002. Work is set to begin in the summer of 2007 and estimated to take two years. The structure will be 200 m long, 12-18 m wide with plans for a central lane for public transport flanked by two pedestrian lanes and steel arches stretching the length of the bridge. The estimated cost of the project is 10 million.
