New cycle paths.
The Rome city council has approved the creation of three new cycle paths. The areas involved are Mandrione, Tor Vergata and Ostia. Public tenders for the construction work will be published in the next few weeks and building may start by the end of the year.
The idea is to create cycle paths that will connect to the existing public transport network, particularly the city's metro lines. For example the Tor Vergata path will link Romes second university, Tor Vergata, with the metro line A station at Anagnina.
There is already one cycle path in the making that should get under way on 10 April. It will be called the "Ciclovia della Musica" as it starts at Villa Ada and ends at Ponte Milvio passing through the area of the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
