New libraries to open
Three new public libraries are to open in Rome. On 31 March, library Sandro Onofri in the Acilia area, southwest of Rome will be opened, followed by the opening of libraries in ex-Vaccheria Nardi in the Tiburtina area and Casale Giannotto in Romes ninth municipality. Library Marconi in the Ostiense area of the city is also due to reopen.
There are currently 33 biblioteche comunale, or public libraries, in the city compared to 26 in 1996, with the three new initiatives taking the total number of new public libraries in the capital to ten in the past ten years.
