New measures against football violence.
The government has announced new measures to control football violence as a result of the first episodes of the season at the Napoli-Roma Serie A match played in Rome on Sunday 31 August.
Napoli fans will now be banned from attending away games for the whole season, those responsible for the violence last weekend will be banned from all stadiums for two years, and high-risk games may be played behind closed doors to empty stadiums. The national body responsible for analysing security at sporting events (CASMS) will decide which games should classify as high-risk.
The interior minister, Roberto Maroni, announced the measures after a meeting of an official investigation on Sunday
