New metro signs point the way for tourists
Four of Rome's metro stations are to be renamed to give tourists using the underground system a better idea of where to get off for certain attractions. Barberini and Flaminio stations on line A are to become known as Barberini-Fontana di Trevi and Flaminio-Piazza del Popolo, while Repubblica and Furio Camillo, also on the A line, will take the names Repubblica-Teatro dell'Opera and Furio Camillo-Parco della Caffarella. An estimated 14.6 million tourists used Rome's underground system during 2002.
