New Tiber bridge for Monterotondo and the A1 motorway
Transport Minister Altero Matteoli cut the tricolour ribbon in bright sunshine on 20 September to open the elegant, kilometre-long bridge connecting the new motorway exit at Castelnuovo di Porto to the SS4 Salaria at Monterotondo Scalo.
The minister was accompanied by ANAS roads authority chairman Pietro Ciucci, Rome province infrastructure councillor Marco Vincenzi and other dignitaries. They made up the first convoy of vehicles to cross the dual carriageway from the SP15a Tiberina over the new, three-lane stretch of the Roma Nord motorway A1dir, opened in August, over the Tiber, through the heart of Monterotondo
